Alternatively, just let me know if my understanding is correct:

• After mapping a domain to a site, there is no way to force a sole permanent use of the mapped domain because its original address is already stored in the DB and is being used in links, content and global vars even if the mapping took place right after creating the site
• WP and plugins will sometimes use the original address of a site and sometimes the mapped address of a site in links or when they create content, depends on the code they use to fetch the site's address
• It is likely that mapping a domain at the earliest stage of the site will make more content and links use the mapped domain, BUT: After mapping, for example, www.sub.com to sub.main.com, any reference to sub.main.com will still be valid so there is not much difference when does a mapping take place
