Ron, we did test 0.5.5 before we rolled back to 0.5.4.3 and it didn't work. We also tested several times rewriting the permalinks in the settings and it still failed. There was some (limited) success in using the Post Name setting, but it was not consistent for some reason (it broke again after 2-3 page loads, though I can't imagine why). With the other 3 primary settings (other than default) it failed to work at all.
Of course I don't expect you to test against 35,000 plugins, but we used two redirection plugins to test this out and it failed on both, which leads me to believe that the latest version get conflicted with redirections in general.
